The Christmas bird count was completed at Flagler, Colorado on January 4, 2025 by Doug Kibbe and his band of 12 birders. They spotted a total of 35 species of birds despite the day being cold, windy, and foggy. The group split up into five teams to cover the entire circle. Four of the teams drove during the morning and one team hiked through the Flagler Reservoir State Wildlife Area. The most common species counted were Lapland Longspurs (an estimated 25,580) and Horned Larks (an estimated 20,236).
